Every year on the Saturday of the D-Days homecoming game, the VAAC holds their annual "Chili Blues" cook off. Chili Makers from throughout the community make their own chilies and bring them to the Washington Street Art Center for community members to taste and evaluate.  Three judges are also selected and deliberate separately over who has made the best chili. During the chili eating, a local blues band plays music and participants can listen, dance, eat, or walk around and admire artwork by local artists.
